A Decade Apart

Rachel and I were two peas in a pod as teenage girls. We hung out constantly, donning our hideous 90's wardrobe, and enjoyed being friends in the sticks of Alaska. This picture brings a blast from the past - two skinny girls at junior prom.

After a decade of not seeing each other, I traveled to Utah to visit my old friend. Seeing each other for the first time after ten years was like picking up where we left off. Although so much has changed in our lives, Rachel is the same friend I remember from years past. Here we are in Salt Lake City with her darling daughter, Lucy.

Even comparing these pictures shows that not everything in our lives has changed. Rachel looks the same, and she professes I do as well. The trip was wonderful with lots of laughs about old times, perusing high school year books, viewing home videos at her parents' house, and meeting her husband and daughter. The old saying, "True friendship never dies," is certainly true for us.

My First Post

After ten years of college, travel, and adult life, I am sitting with my best childhood friend, Rachel. Although we have not seen each other for a third of our lives, being together again is as if we were not apart. In seeing my dear friend, I am reminded of the old days, days when we were silly junior high girls wearing colored sweats and big bangs. While reminiscing of the good old days, we are also approaching the new - she has introduced me to the world of blogging. So here I attempt to sound profound, share my thoughts, or just keep my family and friends updated on my new adventures. Here we go!
